We don’t know how you found us, but we do know why.

You want to go BIG in life and you’ve been looking for a ‘how’.

Life is ONLY 100 years—if you’re lucky. Like 100 dinners, it’s not many. So you have to make every one count

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it” Charles R. Swindoll

Sometimes it takes an extraordinary event that threatens to take away some of those dinners to realise two things;

  1. How fragile life really is
  2. How much you really want to make the most of those years

Founder Vicki Tyler credits two life threatening back injuries for a radical shift in her mindset. It was the spark that kicked off the journey that built a multimillion dollar career across several countries and 3 industries.

It didn’t happen overnight. You don’t go from struggling with paralysis and broken skull, back, pelvis and legs and the Doctor telling you “your life will NEVER look like it did,” to leaving 95% healed.

Try to picture the level of despair and disbelief, when you break your back again 18 months later . The real fear-this time-Will I be able to live a “normal life” again?

Will I be able to live a “normal life” again?

That type of mindset slide towards a dark place has a flipside. The opportunity to build strength and emotional resilience.

Who will blink first?

She will be the first to tell you, IF you can make the darkness blink first, it builds resilience, gives you perspective and connects you with the inner strength inside all of us.

These character traits are the SAME ones you need to become an exceptional leader.

Imagine if there was a way to get them without the near death experiences…

Here’s a little about Vicki Tyler

Vicki Tyler is a highly curious and motivated business leader with a passion for empowering young women to step confidently into leadership roles. After an unconventional five-year working holiday, backpacking the world at 18 and two life threatening back injuries in her early 20s—Vicki rose to become the President of Flight Centre USA. She later went on to create a consulting agency in Los Angeles which led to her own multi-million dollar Real Estate Development Company in California.

Pay it forward

Let’s go back to that moment lying in bed, partially paralysed, wondering if she would ever walk again. That type of perspective rekindled a passion which had been lying dormant for years. She made a promise in her teens to dedicate her life to helping others. To pay it forward. Here are some of the ways she put that into action.

Homes of Hope

During a volunteer trip to Mexico with her family, Vicki discovered how a single home can transform a struggling family’s future. Over the next five years, she co-led multiple Homes of Hope builds—raising funds in Los Angeles and rallying volunteers to construct houses in the slums of Ensenada and Tijuana—seeing firsthand how these efforts lifted families from poverty to a life of hope.

Kids Helping Kids with Shoes that Fit

One pair of shoes impacting 2 kids. Kids earn a pair of shoes by accruing a marathon distance and they get donated to a less fortunate child. Over 800 marathons were completed and 800 pairs of shoes donated. Kids helping Kids ids was the brain child of Vicki Tyler who saw a need and an opportunity and created a tangible pay it forward programme.

Piha ngā Wāhne o te Wai

Vicki Tyler is the founder of the innovative and award winning programmes which aims to increase swim fitness, foster positive body image, create community for women and decrease the drowning statistics in New Zealand, particularly for those going into save children. The name can be translated from Maori as; Piha Women of the Water

Tour de Pier Fundraiser

She participated in The Tour de Pier fundraiser. Which is a unique outdoor fundraising event in Manhattan Beach. It’s challenging to find families on the planet that have NOT lost loved ones to cancer. This special event raises millions for cancer research, by teams riding stationary bikes in front of the Pacific Ocean with awesome music, high energy instructors, celebrity guests and a ton of fun.

LA Kitchen

L.A. Kitchen is one of L.A.’s most successful anti-food-waste, pro-social-justice humanitarian organizations. They prepare thousands of meals daily for Los Angeles’ neediest through volunteers working alongside members of the Culinary Arts Training program. This program teaches and prepares formerly incarcerated, homeless or ex-foster care young adults for jobs.

USA/NZ Leader Junior Life Guard Exchange

The common denominator of lifeguarding, brings teens from Huntington Beach, California and Piha, New Zealand together, sharing time in each country during this 4 decade long Cultural Exchange Legacy programme. “An extraordinary privilege” to be involved in running such a life changing programme, says Tyler.

This year I was fortunate enough to go to the USA with Vicki Tyler as a part of a lifeguard exchange. She leads in a way that inspires and motivates everyone, pushing us to become the best versions of ourselves. She is the most open minded person, which is an infectious attribute, ultimately helping us to do the same and make the most of our time overseas. Vicki is empowering and makes the people around her feel confident, brave, and positive and I think that anyone who gets to learn from, and be inspired by her is incredibly lucky.

Vicki, you have made an incredible impact on my life during this past week at the Speakers Institute. Your warmth, genuine care, and exceptional work ethic truly stand out. Your high level of integrity and relentless dedication are nothing short of inspiring.—you keep pushing forward until the job is done, no matter the hour or exhaustion.

So what is The Growzone Layer?

The Grow Zone Layer represents that thin slice in our brains where “event (10%) meets opportunity (90%)” and the meaningful growth occurs.

The science shows we can grow that space, making our responses more proportional and appropriate. It allows us the confidence to GO FOR IT when new, exciting  or outside-our-comfort-zone opportunities land in front of us.

We can’t affect an event that has already occurred(10%), but our response to it(90%)—we can indeed!

Our Grow Zone programmes disrupt those automatic responses so you can embrace new perspectives, build resilience, integrity and creativity—the cornerstones of exceptional leadership.

We like to call it getting the lesson without the scar.

Going Big isn’t just a mantra

Why now?

There is an acute need for a different type of leadership, in our communities and on the global stage. Hush-hush deals and table-banging rhetoric is old school.

Women make up 10% of the world’s global leaders.

Women make up half the planet’s population!

Women bring collaboration, empathy and resilience onto a world stage that is desperately missing.

“The old way of doing things” is not normal any longer.

Their perspective isn’t just “nice to have”—it’s essential to solving problems in business, government, healthcare, our communities and beyond.

The time is now.

“If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” Mother Teresa

It starts at home

In other words, by helping you to become a better leader you can become the change in your world.

So this is our round about way of saying this isn’t about us it’s about you!

That brings us nicely back to what .045% really means.

A few years ago, Vicki was curious about just how lucky she had been to survive those two back accidents.

AI shared the statistical chances of being able to walk let alone survive breaking your skull, neck, back and pelvis twice.
